Mrs. Ginger Alvarez teaches K4 at Highlands. One of her favorite parts of the school year is in the spring when the preschool classes have an Easter Walk, in which the children can walk in the path of Jesus as He completed His Work on the Week of Passion. She shares, “It is a hands on experience that makes the experience more real to the children, and it stays with them.”
What do you love most about Highlands?
“Watching the children get excited about learning, the relationships, and teaching the Word of God to children every day.”
Why do you like teaching at Highlands?
“I get to teach God’s Word EVERY DAY and help parents lay a firm spiritual foundation in these children’s lives.”
How is faith and learning integrated at Highlands?
“We stress that learning to read makes us ready to read God’s Word. In science, we always recognize the Creator as we explore the wonder of His creation. The children love praise songs, and they encourage each other in learning God’s Word. We also pray daily for each other, our families, and our communities.”
How do you make a spiritual impact on your students?
“We share the gospel consistently and encourage the children to become followers of Christ by receiving Him as their Savior.”
What do you think sets HCA apart from other schools?
“It has always been an environment where Christian families encourage one another and each other’s children—especially in grounding our kids in their faith. The relationships become like family, and you take them with you long after you leave here.”
