All junior high students are administered standardized achievement tests in the spring of each school year. HCA currently gives the Stanford Achievement Test. This test is useful in measuring general educational development, determining student progress from one year to the next, grouping students, diagnosing learning difficulties, and comparing achievement with scholastic aptitude. A copy of test results are available to parents at the beginning of each summer.
Eighth graders are also given the EXPLORE® test which helps students identify things they need to know in planning their high school courses, preparing for the ACT, and choosing a career direction.
