At Highlands Christian Academy, we take education seriously. We realize students have different strengths and weaknesses, and the school provides opportunities to excel in the areas where God has gifted them. That’s why our high school offers a broad spectrum of programs, including college prep courses, honors and AP classes, fine arts, athletics, biblical instruction, and opportunities for service at HCA and in the community. For the past several years, HCA 12th graders have also had the opportunity to culminate their studies with an international trip in the spring.
Our goal is to prepare high school students for college – and for life. We know each student learns differently, so we use a variety of teaching methods and curricula that are both traditional and progressive. Our teachers are specifically selected for expertise in their teaching area, their capability with teens, and their Christian character. We know students are always observing the actions of their instructors – both in and out of the classroom – and we want our educators to have the utmost integrity as mature Christian adults.
We also understand that the teen years are a formative time for relationships. At HCA, we believe God has created us to live in community and to function as salt and light in our world. That’s why our high school provides an environment that is conducive for healthy, age-appropriate relationships with peers, staff, and in the local community. We encourage relationships free of bullying that are characterized by respect, compassion, honesty, forgiveness, and purity.
National achievement test results indicate superior HCA student ranking among their peers across the country. Students are challenged with honors and AP classes, dual enrollment, and online classes in addition to their regular college-prep class load. More than ninety percent of HCA high school graduates go on to attend college, and a majority of our students receive academic scholarships. HCA students have graduated from all major public and private colleges and universities in Florida and numerous institutions of higher learning around the country. It is exciting to know that many graduates are enjoying success in professional fields of medicine, law, public service, and in fulltime ministry.
