Suggestions for a Successful School Year – Part 1
We asked HCA staff to share tips and suggestions for a successful school year. For starters, here are three!
1) As parents and teachers, we only have a short time span to influence the hearts and lives of our children. Treasure every moment you have with them as you point them to God. They will be more affected by the way you live than the words you say. I am reminded of a sentence I teach my class: YOUR WALK (life) TALKS AND YOUR TALK TALKS, BUT YOUR WALK (life) TALKS LOUDER THAN YOUR TALK TALKS. – Mrs. Martha Canott
2) Take a deep breath or two, and then remember that you are not alone. There are thousands of others dealing with the same frustrations. It will get better. As my mom used to say, “This too will pass.” So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10 – Mrs. Debbie Kemper
3) This is an excellent resource for families to help their children retain and understand the content they read in school or at home: “How to Read a Book: The Classic Guide to Intelligent Reading” – Click HERE – Mr. Alberto Altamiranda
