Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties have closed classes, athletics, and extra-curricular activities beginning Monday, March 16, because of the declared COVID-19 crisis. On Monday, Highlands teachers will be finalizing plans for digital learning. Families should expect mid-week communication regarding instruction and assignments for students while at home.
Students will be able to pick up books and materials to aid in this process. Plans at this point are to be out the week of March 16-20. The week of March 23-27 is our regularly-scheduled spring break. Highlands will continue to assess the situation. Based on information at that time, we will determine when to resume normal school activities.
Due to the sanitization and deep cleaning that will be ongoing on the Highlands campus, all facilities will be closed. Based on the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Department of Education (DOE) recommendations, any student, teacher, or staff that leaves the country must self-quarantine for 14 days from the day of arrival back in the United States.
We are praying for health and safety for Highlands and all of our community.
