Second Graders Learn Present Alabama through Wyoming!
What a wonderful presentation as all three Highlands 2nd grade classes gathered together to share what they have learned about the 50 states!
Students individually introduced themselves and told the classes a fact about the state they researched, beginning with Alabama and going all the way through to Wyoming. A few of the interesting facts included: The Florida Everglades is the only place where alligators and crocodiles live together; Alabama had the first 9-1-1 emergency system; Evel Knievel was a famous stuntman from Montana. (They watched a video of him jumping over 50 cars!)
Many students also enjoyed learning about the state animal and state bird. This research project has been a great addition to the 2nd grade history curriculum.
