Mrs. Meriwether Honored for 32 Years at Highlands
Last evening at the 2017 Kindergarten Graduation, Highlands Christian Academy honored Mrs. Judy Meriwether on completing her 35th year of teaching, with 32 of these years at HCA.
Over these many years, Mrs. Meriwether has faithfully taught and impacted the lives of hundreds of students in K3, 4th grade, and most recently in kindergarten. She is known among her colleagues and the Highlands’ families as a gifted teacher of phonics, math, reading, and writing—however more than teaching her students basic academic skills and concepts, she has faithfully taught them about Jesus Christ. Mrs. Meriwether teaches daily about God’s amazing creation, focusing on how He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins in order to provide us all with the gift of salvation and an eternity with Him in heaven.
Mrs. Meriwether, a wife, mother of 2, grandmother of 4, and teacher of hundreds and hundreds of children, will be retiring this June. Headmaster Ken Lopez shares, “For most of my tenure, I’ve have had the privilege of working alongside Mrs. Meriwether. She and Bill were actually our neighbors and have been a blessing as part of the school and church. Mrs. Meriwether has a gift of working with children and has impacted hundreds of lives. She will be greatly missed.”
Elementary Principal Dawn Utz shares, “We thank Mrs. Meriwether for the impact she’s had on so many young people and their families. She is loved and appreciated and leaves behind a legacy of her faithful service to the Lord.”
