HCA’s Spring Musical “Little Mermaid” Cast Announced

Highlands Christian Academy’s Fine Arts Department announces The Little Mermaid will be presented on Thursday, May 4 through Saturday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. each evening, as well as a matinee on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

HCA has produced and performed sixteen consecutively outstanding spring musicals since 2000. Presented in March, April, or May each year, the HCA Theater Department produces up to four performances over the course of a weekend. (Read more about HCA’s Spring Musicals here…)

Students have auditioned, cast parts have been assigned, practices have begun, lines, songs, and choreography are being memorized, and sets are being designed. There is definitely a flurry of Little Mermaid excitement in the air!

“The Little Mermaid tries to become part of another world on her own and fails miserably,” shares Miss Method, HCA Musical Director. “However, because of her father’s sacrifice, her life is saved and she gets her heart’s desire. This is the heartbeat of this fairy tale and it resonates in my soul. Each of us would fail to reach heaven without the sacrifice of our Heavenly Father in the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Come see the fun, the fantasy, the spectacle, and listen to the familiar songs of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Join the cast in using this as a chance to worship God for what He has done for us.”

The tale was first published in 1837 and has been adapted to various media, including musical theater and an animated film.
