Mrs. Bronson’s favorite Bible verses are: Matthew 6:26-28 – Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
Mrs. Brittany Darland will be teaching 2nd grade this year. Mrs. Darland grew up near Charlotte, North Carolina in Huntersville. Mrs. Darland and her husband Taylor Darland, whom she met in North Carolina, were married in July. She enjoys painting, crafts, going to the beach, and serving in preschool ministries.
Mrs. Darland graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama this past May with a degree in Early Childhood Elementary Collaborative Special Education. She also served on the leadership team for the School of Education which gave her opportunities to lead professional development for teachers and coordinate educational school-wide events. Mrs. Darland says, “I am thrilled the Lord has called me to serve at Highlands Christian! I am passionate about sharing the love of Jesus with students, educating them at their point of need, and helping all students be successful.”
Her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Mrs. Jessica Gonzalez will be teaching 4th grade this year. Mrs. Gonzalez grew up in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. She has two children, Bella Sofia, (2nd grade) and Julian (K3) with whom she loves spending time at the beach.
Mrs. Gonzalez graduated from FAU with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2000 and her Master’s Degree in 2006. She says, “I am so excited to pour the love of Christ into these children. I pray every day that seed will be planted in them for the Lord and that He will do a mighty work in each of the children’s lives.”
When asked about her favorite Bible verse she said, “I have so many Bible verses I love, but I do reflect often on Jeremiah 29:11-13 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Mrs. Damaris Nevitt will be teaching elementary music, 6th grade drama, and all the school choirs this year. Mrs. Nevitt was born in Cuba, but was raised in Miami from the age of 18 months. She attended Eckerd College, Miami Christian University, Florida Atlantic University, and graduated from Trinity International University in 2003.
Mrs. Nevitt and her husband Richard Dean Nevitt have two adult children, Jessica and Calvin; 3 grandchildren; and two children in high school, Madison, a senior and Avery, a freshman. She enjoys reading, sewing, shopping and traveling. Mrs. Nevitt is looking forward to teaching at HCA. She says, “The people here are so awesome and friendly. I feel at home and I can’t wait to join the team and meet the students!”
