John.WilsonHighlands Christian Academy congratulates faculty member Mr. John Wilson on earning his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Mr. Wilson has taught at Highlands for the past two school years and will continue teaching 6th and 7th grade math and pre-algebra this coming fall. In addition to teaching math, John serves as administrative dean of students, National Junior Honor Society advisor, junior class sponsor, and is the assistant coach for varsity girls basketball.

John was a “military brat” growing up in California, Georgia, West Germany, and Florida. He graduated in 2000 from Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Florida with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. While in college he met his wife, Ruth, who also teaches at HCA. They were married in 2004 and now have two children. In August, Jeffery will be in 5th grade and Ariana will be in 1st grade, both at HCA. John and his family attend Grace Baptist Church where he teaches Sunday School and serves on the elder board.

This past May, Mr. Wilson completed the work required to earn his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He plans to continue serving at HCA because, “This is where the Lord has called me to do the work that He created me to do.” He says his favorite Bible verse is James 4:14 – Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
