HCA Celebrates the Class of 2015 and Honors Teachers
The 2015 HCA Baccalaureate Service and Commencement Exercises were a tribute to the outstanding work of this class of graduates! The Sunday Baccalaureate Service (May 24) featured reflection speeches presented by seniors Sierra Burrell, Mitchell Carroll, Sarah Fernandes, Jane’l Huntley, Trace Johnson, Vitor Lima, and Kealey Wik. Alicia Chiriboga and Kealey Wik sang a beautiful duet, Be Thou My Vision, before the message presented by Campus Pastor Luke Still.
At the end of the service, four teachers were recognized for being awarded “Teacher of the Year,” by various community service clubs. Mrs. Ruth Wilson was honored by the Deerfield Beach Rotary Club, Mrs. Jennifer Walker by the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Mrs. Amy D’Angelo and Mr. Phil Attard by both the Deerfield Chamber of Commerce and Highlands Christian Academy. Mr. Marc Veynovich, Track coach, and Mrs. Robbin Lopez received the Spirit of HCA Award. Mrs. Lopez has taught for 25 years and is retiring from her service to Highlands. Mr. Larry Smith was recognized for 30 years of service and Mr. Ken Lopez for 40 years.
Commencement the following Friday night (May 29) was celebrated by a full auditorium of family, friends, and faculty as the graduates were honored for this milestone in their academic career. The Valedictorian Address was given by James McGrath and the Salutatorian Address by Bryce Ungerbuehler. Commencement speaker Mr. Fred Banke, Administrator at Community Christian School of Stockbridge, Georgia spoke on Personal Responsibility, Making Good Choices and Living in a Biblical Perspective.
As each graduate was presented with a diploma, a special slide tribute was shown to highlight his or her activities and academic successes. Many students were recognized with Bright Futures and other academic and athletic scholarships represented by an array of colleges and universities. The staff of Highlands Christian Academy prays for God’s blessings on these incredible graduates. Congratulations and best wishes, Class of 2015!
