Financial Assistance Program
We’re so glad you recognize the incredible value of a quality Christian education for your students. We understand that not every family is able to afford private education. We also understand that sometimes current HCA families undergo financial setbacks and aren’t able to continue meeting tuition obligations.
We’re here to help you sort through the financial issues of enrolling your child at HCA – or keeping him or her here! We encourage you to take a look at the options on this page, and then give us a call.
There are two ways that you can apply for assistance with your tuition at Highlands:
1. Step Up for Students Scholarship - Now Available to Current HCA students (up to $4,335 per year)
Step Up For Students Scholarship is an initiative of the Florida Tax Credit (FTC) Scholarship Program. The innovative program provides K-12 education scholarships for qualifying low-income students who are entering kindergarten through fifth grade OR who attended public school the previous year. The scholarships give low-income parents the opportunity to choose the K-12 school that best meets their children's needs.

If you qualify and receive the Step Up For Students Scholarship, the balance of the tuition and fees after the scholarship is granted will be the responsibility of the parent.
2. FAST (Financial Aid for School Tuition)
HCA offers a financial assistance program to families through FAST. Assistance is offered to families who are going through temporary setbacks, such as loss of job, severe illness, or injury. Our financial aid program is meant to be used one or two years during the student’s educational stay. Students must first be registered and accepted into Highlands in order to be evaluated for financial aid assistance.
Families interested in financial aid must go to the homepage of our website under “Quick Links” and click “Financial Aid Application.” Please fill out the form thoroughly and submit it online. Once you have completed the application, you will be required to mail a copy of your tax return for the previous year to FAST. FAST will then offer a suggested amount for aid, and HCA will contact you as to the percentage of aid your family will be given. Financial aid applies to the upcoming year’s tuition and daycare only, and does not apply to any fees, such as registration, consolidated, class fees, previous tuition or charges, etc.
Families must apply for financial aid each year. HCA takes into consideration many factors when evaluating for financial aid including financial need/ability, expenses, family background, academic and behavioral standing of student(s), previous financial aid granted, payment history, grade level/capacity, number of families applying for aid, and discount money available.
A tuition discount is offered to students of full-time senior pastors and full-time youth pastors who derive 90 percent of their annual income from the church. Pastor’s meeting this criteria are required to complete the application through FAST (as detailed above). It is also required that a letter be written to Highlands Christian Academy from the church association, board, or convention detailing the job title and the fact that the pastor is full-time.
